So, we've been here over a month, we finally have some furniture in the apartment, things have settled down for Jason at work (have you played his Kill the Spill game at AlaskaDispatch.com?) - just in time to celebrate the solstice!
The solstice is a big deal up here - every town has some sort of celebration. In Anchorage it's the weekend before (since solstice is actually Monday), and they closed off downtown to traffic for all sorts of fun. We watched the Rage City (AK) rollergirls bout in town square (unfortunately it was cut short due to rain), several dance groups, including a girl on the ribbons in the air, and some musical entertainment (we'll be going back later for more...after a nap, of course!)
Now that I know how to add to our blog...I'll work on providing some more stories soon! For now, HAPPY SOLSTICE! (btw - the sun sets at 11:42pm up here today)

Rainy Solstice
So, can you actually call it a solstice festival if the sun never appears? The rain didn't keep away crowds downtown for the free events - lots to see and do and music into the night... picture
