Neat little operation to empower Masai women! We took a quick tour of the facility to learn how the women make ceramic beads by hand. Elizabeth (with us in the middle and bottom right, you'll also see her on their business site) has been making beads with Kobe since 1975! She is so friendly and made us some cute bird beads to take home. The women in this room did an amazing welcome song/dance for us and truly welcomed us to Kenya. We also watched women do some glazing, and then creating beautiful bracelets, necklaces, key chain,and more. A quick look through the gift shop, and we left with some handmade treasures!
Jambo = matter - it's a Swahili greeting similar to hello
karibu = welcome
Hakuna Matata = no worries
Bonus: check in comments for a video of the welcome dance (link to photos and videos coming soon)
