Rothschild giraffes

This center was in an upscale part of Nairobi, it was started by a couple who took an interest in giraffes and eventually opened a sanctuary on their land for Rothschild giraffes (we learned there are 9 subspecies, each with unique patterns). We we given a small bowl of giraffe food and pointed in the direction of the deck to feed the giraffes. At first, the giraffes were full and taking shelter from the rains, but eventually a few found their way to the food. We had to watch out for head butts and lots of gooey drool as the giraffes stuck out their tongues for the food pellets. We enjoyed this up close giraffe encounter, then washed our hands/arms, and made our way back out to our driver.
