So, we thought we had simple expectations....within walking/biking distance of downtown and room for guests...boy is the Anchorage rental market strange!  Craigslist was our friend (and still is as we furnish the apt now), but the neighborhoods in Anchorage are unpredictable - you can't really say this part of town is like...anything - it's all mixed up everywhere.  We also quickly learned the rental market is more pricey than we expected.  However, with some help from new friends, we hit the streets and looked at many different options.  It really only took about a week

We drove about 15 minutes to the trailheads for Flattop Mtn - it's eay access from downtown and it's pretty light hiking.  We didn't hike much, but got a taste of the views and will go back for more...http://bso1.com/pix/main.php?g2_itemId=30286

then it was off to downtown on our bikes to see the sunset at 11:40pm and grab a beer...

So, Jason had his first LAZY day - we got up whenever, and he worked on a puzzle until 6pm!  He was having fun with our coffee table that pulls up to regular table height and back and forth while I did some work online.  We finally got prettied up and went to a soltice bbq - met some hippie types, chatted for awhile, learned cool stuff to do around Anchorage and beyond, then back home.  Now what...?  Oh, let's bleach Jason's hair...http://bso1.com/pix/main.php?g2_itemId=30263

So, we've been here over a month, we finally have some furniture in the apartment, things have settled down for Jason at work (have you played his Kill the Spill game at AlaskaDispatch.com?) - just in time to celebrate the solstice!

A quick three hour drive west and we arrived at the McNeill Chicken Farm.
